Onua FM, Zoomlion Lead Massive Cleanup Exercise At Madina Market

A massive haul of plastic waste, including takeaway packs, sachets of iced water, and used clothing and worn-out shoes was extracted from the gutters and drains at the Madina Zongo Junction in Accra on Valentine’s Day (February 14,) during a cleanup operation. The cleanup exercise was a collaborative effort between Onua FM, a member of Media General, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) and other volunteers. Waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has clarified concerns raised by some operatives under the Sanitation Module of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) regarding payment of allowances and the company’s role in the Waste and Sanitation Module. Zoomlion said it is responsible for managing operatives and providing necessary logistics, but payment of allowances is solely determined by the Government/YEA. “The payment of YEA operatives’ allowances is solely determined by the Government/YEA.
