Beginning today, the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo), which operates the pipeline, will shut it down for regular maintenance. In order to inspect and clean the 569 km of pipeline as required by law, the company will be able to launch its Pipeline Inspection Gauge (PIG). The procedure will drastically reduce the flow of gas from Nigeria to Ghana.
