SSNIT Increases Pension By 15%

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has increased the monthly pension payments by 15 per cent, effective January this year. Under the arrangement, all persons on the SSNIT pension payroll as of December 31, 2023, will have their monthly pension increased by a fixed rate of 10 per cent plus a redistributed flat amount of GH¢79.10. The redistribution is to cushion persons with low pensions under the current economic situation, SSNIT said at a press conference in Accra yesterday to announce the new increase in the monthly payments. We’ve Paid ¢2.4bn To Pensioners As Of August 2022; Never Defaulted – SSNIT Boss

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has paid about ¢2.4 billion as benefits to retired workers as of August 2022. This is slightly higher than the amount paid during the same period in 2021. According to the Director General, Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, this is expected to surpass the ¢3.2 billion paid the entire last year. “We pay every 3rd Thursday of the month.
