Three mobile phone operators have been put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly selling pre-registered assorted sim cards to the public at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra. The Police say all the pre-registered sim cards were registered with different Ghana cards without the knowledge of their owners. The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has agreed to comply with the recent directive from the National Communications Authority (NCA) regarding the ongoing SIM registration exercise. In a statement, the Chamber said its members have been blocking services for subscribers since November 2022, who have not completed both stages of the SIM registration process, as directed by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation.
