The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Yandoh, has attributed the party's defeat to President Akufo-Addo's autocratic decision-making style, which led to several missteps. Mr Yandoh expressed regret that President Nana Akufo-Addo didn't heed their advice, which would have led to the dismissal of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare before the election. He believes that taking this action would have prevented certain issues that arose during and after the election period.
