Following the reopening of basic schools on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has directed all existing caterers to resume providing nutritious meals to schoolchildren across the country. The directive aims to ensure that pupils in all 16 regions of Ghana continue to receive one hot, nutritious meal daily as part of the School Feeding Programme. Lariba Zuweira Abudu, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, says Caterers of the Ghana School Feeding Programme will receive payments of their arrears for the third term of the 2022 academic year by next week. Caterers under the School Feeding Programme have declared a nationwide strike. The aggrieved caterers explained that the declaration of the nationwide strike is due to the government’s failure to pay them their arrears and increase the amount per child.
