369 People Perish In 2,260 Road Crashes In First Two Months Of 2024

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has disclosed that road crashes for the first two months of January and February 2024 saw a slight increase. The Director-General of the NRSA, Ing. David Osafo Adonteng, at the launch of the 2024 Road Safety Easter Campaign, disclosed that 2,260 road crashes were reported involving 3,910 vehicles, with 369 fatalities, 2,552 injuries and 381 pedestrian knockdowns in the first two months of 2024. Two people reportedly died on the spot in an accident involving a VIP yutong bus and trailer at Asankare barrier in the Asante Akyem South district of the Ashanti region. The accident which occurred Saturday night also left several others injured. According reports, the VIP bus with registration number GE 6167-19, travelling from Accra-Kumasi collided with the trailer heading to Accra. A gory accident between Kintampo and Babatokuma has claimed 22 lives. The deceased include 17 men, four women and one child. According to reports, 21 persons died on the spot while one person died at the Kintampo Government Hospital. About 21 passengers have been seriously injured in an accident at Gomoa Odumase near Anteadze on the Kasoa-Cape Coast Highway.
