PURC Recovers GH¢24.9 Million For NEDCo In Bono, Bono East, Ahafo Regions

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions recovered GH¢24,948,151.84 million from consumers to the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) in 2022. Mr Patrick Antwi, the Regional Manager, PURC, (for the three regions) disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of Consumer Service Clinic (CSC) organised by the regional office of the Commission in Sunyani. He said the Commission further assisted consumers to retrieve GHS42,378.49 from NEDCo and GH¢1,405.78 from the Ghana Water Company Limited amounting to GH¢43,784.27 within the year. Consumption And Expected Cost For New Tariff To Be Catalogued In Reckoner – ECG

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that all unit consumption and expected cost for the upward review of electricity tariff will be systemised in a Reckoner. The Reckoner, the company says clearly explains how the tariff is applied and billed. “Please note that individual customers’ tariff percentage increase will depend on customer classification and consumption category,” the company announced on January 31. The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has decided to petition Parliament’s Select Committee on Mines and Energy over the increase in utility tariffs by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC). PURC Increases Electricity And Water Tariffs Effective February 1

The Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission has increased electricity and water tariffs by 29.96% and 8.3% respectively. The new rates take effect from February 1, 2023. This follows the conclusion of its regulatory process for the quarterly adjustment of utility tariffs covering the first quarter of 2023. The Commission said the process is in conformity with the Quarterly Tariff Review Mechanism and Guidelines as communicated in the Commission’s August, 2022 major tariff review decision.
