The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, says officiating in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL) has been generally fair. However, he admitted that there have been a few incidents of referees making incorrect decisions, as is the case in other leagues such as the Premier League and LaLiga. The Ministry of Youth and Sports joined forces with the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the May 9 disaster. The event was to remember the incident that claimed the lives of 127 football fans at the Accra Sports Stadium following a stampede during a Ghana Premier League fixture between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko in 2001.
