Private SSNIT Contributors Up 2.7%

The total number of private sector SSNIT contributors, which partially gauges employment conditions, improved by 2.7 percent to 1,007,341 in May 2024, according to the Bank of Ghana’s Monetary Policy Report. This compares to 980,808 for the same period in 2023. Cumulatively, for the first five months of 2024, the total number of private sector contributors increased by 4.8 percent to 5,063,676, from 4,829,487 recorded over the corresponding period in 2023, the report noted. Private Sector Activity Expanded For First Time In A Year – Bog

The country’s private sector activity expanded for the first time in a year as Ghana’s Purchasing Managers Index increased to 50.2 in February 2023, from 47.2 in January 2023, data from the Bank of Ghana has revealed. With indications of strengthening demand, production and new orders returned to growth. In addition, the purchasing activity rebounded, ending a 14-month decline, while inventory levels rose at the fastest rate since September 2021.
