Prices Of Pork To Go Up By 20% In December

The farmgate price for pork is expected to rise by 20% from December 1 this year, the Pig Farmers Association of Ghana has announced. According to the Association, the emergence of a high cost of production has necessitated the upward price adjustment. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has denied publications that it has entered into an agreement with a third party for the importation of large quantities of pork from the United States. Price Of Pork To Go Up By 20% Next Week

Prices of pig products are going up by almost 20 percent, effective September 20, 2022. The cost of a kilogram of pork will increase from 14 cedis to 18 cedis, according to the producer association. Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Pig Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Daniel Yaw Siaw, says the price hike is as a result of rising cost of feed, diesel, among other factors.
