Renowned Ghanaian musician Teddy Osei, co-founder of the iconic Afrobeat band Osibisa, has passed away at 88 in London on January 14, 2025. Bessa Simons, President of MUSIGA, described his death as a monumental loss to Ghanaian music. Born in Kumasi in 1937, Osei’s journey began in his youth, mastering the saxophone during college in Sekondi. Sol Amarfio, a founding member of the Osibisa band and world-class drummer has died. He was 84. He is reported to have died on Tuesday, December 13. The acting President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) confirmed his death to Graphic Showbiz on Wednesday, December 14.
