Three Indian Catholic priests based in Kpassa in the Nkwanta-North District of the Oti Region were brutally beaten by a mob at a fuel station in Nkwanta last Wednesday. The priests, Father Robinson Melkis, Father Frank Henry Jacob, and Father Martin George, are members of the Capuchin Friars. They have been engaged in missionary activities in the country since 2005. Six people have been confirmed dead in a fresh shooting incident at Nkwanta South in the Oti Region. According to eyewitnesses, armed assailants opened fire on residents at the Nkwanta Central Market early this morning. Several properties have been destroyed and residents have fled for safety leaving behind a ghost town. It's confirmed that intense tension is brewing in Nkwanta South of the Oti Region as Adele’s clashes with the Akyode’s in Nkwanta township on Saturday , October 28. The ethnic groups have clashed over the performance of ritual rites to herald the 2023 annual Yam Festival of the Akyodes. Many homes and shops were not spared in the clash with Nkwanta becoming a deserted town.
