Ghanaians React To MTN’s New Prices Which Take Effect Today

Telecommunications giant MTN Ghana has begun implementing its announced price adjustments across all its products and services. In a circular issued to customers on November 24, 2023, MTN said the new prices will kick in from Tuesday, November 28, 2023. The surge in price affects calls, SMS, data and other offerings of MTN. MTN Ghana Reconnects Over 1.95m SIMs.

MTN Ghana has reconnected 1,954,295 of SIM cards disconnected as a result of the National SIM re-registration. This leaves 3,804,940 disconnected SIMs. In November 2022, MTN Ghana disconnected 5,759,235 customers. The reconnection was after the impacted subscribers completed their biometric capture. The National Communications Authority (NCA) in a letter dated March 20 2023, directed all operators to disconnect all numbers that had not completed their Stage 2 registration (that is the biometric capture) by March 31, 2023. MTN Ghana Delays Mobile Data Prices Review Implementation

MTN Ghana has postponed the implementation of its new data prices scheduled for today, November 14, 2022. The delay in the implementation is to allow for broader stakeholder alignment. Therefore, the current data tariff plans will continue until further notice. On November 11, 2022, MTN Ghana announced a 15% upward review of its mobile data prices for both Pay Monthly and Pay-As-You-Go customers.
