The disqualification was based on Guru’s non-resident status, a violation of Article 30, which mandates that candidates must be campus residents and eligible to contest for a Junior Common Room (JCR) position in their hall. Ghanaian rapper and presidential aspirant in the ongoing University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (UGSRC) race, Maradona Adjei Yeboah, also known as Guru, has been disqualified. In a letter released on August 16, 2024, and signed by the electoral commissioner of the UGSRC, the rapper and his running mate, were disqualified over their non-resident status in accordance with Article 30 (1) (a) of the UGSRC constitution.
