The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has settled on Tuesday, May 23 as date for the by-election in the Kumawu Constituency of the Ashanti Region. Seven persons charged for attacking a police officer have been granted bail by the Effiduase District Court in the Ashanti Region. Edward Boateng, Evans Addo, Yaw Kusi, Michael Owusu, Yaw Boateng, and Emmanuel Mensah were arraigned before the court on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, for attacking a police officer at Kumawu. The Police have arrested six persons for attacking a Police officer at the Wono Akotsosu snap checkpoint in the Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region on 7th April 2023. An investigation has disclosed that the suspects, Edward Boateng, Evans Addo, Yaw Kusi, Michael Owusu, Yaw Boateng and Emmanuel Mensah, and one other suspect currently on the run, pulled up in a taxi cab at the checkpoint.
