The government has initiated processes to restructure the Internal Audit Agency to effectively prevent financial irregularities in the public sector, Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Dr Eric Oduro Osae, has disclosed. The Director of Operations at the Internal Audit Agency, Nathan Kenneth Yankey, has disclosed that from January to August 2022 alone corruption prevention measures implemented by the agency have saved the country over 600Million Ghana cedis. According to him, the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) saved over GH¢200 million from the implementation of some audit recommendations involving some public institutions in 2020 and saved over GH¢380million in 2021. The measures included tackling weak control systems and injecting discipline in the management of public funds.
