2 Out Of 10 Married Men Had Two Or More Sexual Partners In 2022 – GSS Report

A survey conducted by the Ghana Demographic and Health Survey of the Ghana Statistical Service has revealed that two out of ten married men had two or more sexual partners in 2022. Out of the 7,044 men interviewed for the survey, the report revealed that 15 percent of men aged 15–49 had two or more sexual partners in the last 12 months, and 35 percent had sexual intercourse in the last 12 months with a person who was neither their wife nor lived with them. Producer Price Inflation Falls To 9.6%

The Producer Price Index (PPI) for October 2023 fell to 9.6%, data from the Ghana Statistical Service has revealed. This represents a 15.5 percentage point decrease relative to the rate recorded in September 2023 (25.1%). However, the month-on-month change in the PPI between September 2023 and October 2023 was 1.1%. To enhance decision-making for businesses to thrive, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has announced that it will conduct a comprehensive census of informal and formal businesses across the country. The exercise according to the Service will be conducted in two phases with the initial one to be held in mid-October 2023 and the second phase in 2024. Inflation Falls To 41.2% In April 2023

Year-on-year inflation fell for the 4th month running to 41.2% in April 2023, from 45% in March 2023, extending the disinflation process since January 2023. According to the Ghana Statistical Service, both food inflation and non-food inflation dipped last month. This slump in inflation could compel the Bank of Ghana to keep its policy rate unchanged at 29.5% when the Monetary Policy Committee begins its 112th Meeting on May 17, 2023. About 1.76m Persons Unemployed In Quarter 3, 2022 – GSS

About 1.76 million persons were unemployed in the third quarter of 2022, the Ghana Statistical Service has revealed in its Quarterly Labour Statistics Report. Within this population, two out of every three unemployed persons were females. Across the three quarters, about 157,000 persons experienced an unemployment spell that is they were unemployed in all the quarters. Economy Expands By 3.1% In 2022 – GSS

Provisional estimates from the Ghana Statistical Service indicates that Ghana’s economy expanded by 3.1% in 2022, 0.6% lower than 3.7% forecast by the government. This is below Ghana’s average Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate of 5.0% pre-Covid-19. It beat most analysts forecast as the African Development Bank in January 2023 had projected that Ghana’s economy grew by 3.6% in 2022. In 2021, post Covid-19, the economy grew by 0.9%. February 2023 Inflation Slows To 52.8% To Sustain Downward Trend

Year-on-year Inflation for the month of February 2023 slowed down to 52.8%, the Ghana Statistical Service has pointed out. This is a reduction from the January 2023 estimate of 53.6%, which was influenced by the fall in inflation of transportation and other non-food items. The latest thematic report on Migration by the Ghana Statistical Service has revealed an increase in the number of Ghanaians who have travelled and settled outside the country between 2010 and 2021. The emigrants’ population, according to the report, peaks at 25 to 39. Children under the age of 15 and aged 65+ constitute 4.0% of the emigrant population. The year-on-year inflation rate at factory gate prices for all goods and services fell to 52.2 % in December 2022, from 78.1% recorded in November 2022, data from the Ghana Statistical Services has revealed. The monthly change rate was -13.3%, indicating the rate of inflation slowed down during the month under review. Economy Slows Down In Quarter 3, 2022; Expands By 2.9% – GSS

Ghana’s economy grew at the slowest pace in two years in the third quarter of 2021, data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has revealed. According to the GSS, the country’s economy expanded at 2.9% in the third quarter of 2022. This is lower than the 4.7% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) recorded in the second quarter of 2022.
