Telecom Industry Contributes Over GH¢9 Billion In Taxes

Telecommunications companies in the country contributed more than GH¢9 billion in taxes and other payments for 2023, a 50 percent increase over the GH¢6 billion paid in 2022. These data are included in the Transparency Initiative Report – jointly released by the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications and Electronic Money Issuers Chamber of Ghana. Telecom Chamber Sounds Alarm Over Rising Fibre Cuts, Costing GH¢118m In Repairs

The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has expressed concern over the surge in fibre cuts in the country, which have been causing significant damage to the nation’s telecommunications infrastructure and impacting customers’ network experience. According to the Chamber, there were 5,133 fibre cuts across Ghana in the first half of 2024, resulting in a cost of GH¢118 million to repair these damages.
