The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has rebutted allegations levelled against it by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) regarding its purported hesitancy to probe former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah. Samuel Appiah Darko, Director of Strategy, Research, and Communications at the OSP, recently revealed that EOCO had returned Cecilia Dapaah’s case file, suggesting a lack of enthusiasm in pursuing the money laundering charges against her. A joint operation involving the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the Ghana Police Service has led to the arrest of 49 suspected human traffickers. A statement issued by EOCO said the suspects who are all Nigerians are between the ages of 18 and 34 years. They include 47 males and 2 females, the statement revealed. The suspects were allegedly engaged in human trafficking and cyber-related crimes, EOCO said. The team retrieved 70 laptops, two salon cars, 51 mobile phones, 9 internet modems, and other gadgets. The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has released a list of persons on its wanted list. The list, containing the details of three men, was shared on Twitter. The three men are Ezekiel Mensah Otoo, Nicholas Gyekye, and Derrick Obeng, a.k.a Chilling. According to the EOCO, Ezekiel is wanted for the alleged offence of stealing and involvement in SIM swap fraud.
