Eid Ul-Fitr Festivities: Traders Take Advantage To Increase Prices

As Muslims across the country prepare to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr, some traders have taken advantage of the festivities to increase prices, starting with rice, cooking oil, African print fabrics, meat  and other food items. During a visit by The Mirror to the Makola and Madina markets in Accra last Tuesday and Wednesday, the products had seen increases in prices within the last week. The government has announced Monday, April 24, 2023, as a statutory public holiday to make the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration. This was contained in a statement and signed by the minister for interior, Ambrose Dery. According to the statement, the Eid celebration falls on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
