Seven Arrested For Illegal Mining In Eastern Region

The Eastern North Police Command has arrested seven individuals for engaging in illegal mining activities in Wisiwise and Pankese, located in the Kwahu West and Birim North Districts of the Eastern Region. The arrests were made during a targeted operation led by Regional Operations Commander, ASP Samuel Amewornu. The suspects have been identified as Padmore Ofosu Boateng, 45; Quashie Kedem, 24; Eugene Amoako, 64; George Biabeng, 64; Bernard Klutse, 30; Frederick Agbolosu, 34; and Michael Ametsikor, 30. 2 Workers Of Ready Oil Sentenced To 15 Years Imprisonment For Stealing

A circuit court at Anyinam in the Eastern region has sentenced two workers of Oil Marketing Company, Ready Oil, to a total of 15 years imprisonment for stealing an amount of ¢102,000. Emmanuel Ohene Amankwah, 27, and Douglas Twumasi, 25, will serve eight and seven-year jail terms, respectively. They pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime – to wit, stealing. The prosecutor, Chief Inspector Joseph Damfei, told the court the first convict is the Kwabeng branch manager of Ready Oil while the second is a fuel pump attendant.
