Embrace Cylinder Recirculation Model – NPA Boss To Ghanaians

The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has urged the public to embrace the cylinder recirculation model (CRM) policy to ensure safety and increase access to LPG to 50% by 2030. According to him, the policy would ensure the existence of robust and standard health, safety, and environmental practices in the production, marketing, and consumption of LPG. “What we need to know is that the CRM is here to curb our fear of gas being filled close to our homes,” he said. Gas Refilling Operators Express Concerns On Cylinder Recirculation Model

Some gas refilling station operators in Accra have expressed reservations about the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM). They contend that the initiative could negatively impact many low-income consumers, as well as businesses and jobs in the industry. The CRM programme, which became operational on September 1, allows bottling plants to fill gas and distribute it to consumers through exchange points. Under this system, the consumer takes an empty cylinder to the exchange point and picks up a filled one.
