Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies missed out on a place in the final of the 2023 CAF Women's Champions League after losing on penalties to Sporting Club Casablanca on Wednesday night. Nana Joe Adarkwa's side missed three of their spots one more than that of their Moroccan opposition as they suffered a 3-2 loss in the shootout after playing out a pulsating 2-2 draw in 120 minutes of action. The Head of Women's Football at CAF, Meskerem Tadesse Goshime, says the reason behind the establishment of the Women's Champions League (CAFWCL) was to help develop the domestic leagues on the continent. The third edition of the CAF Women's Champions League will commence over the weekend in Ivory Coast after successful editions in Egypt and Morocco in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
