Ghana striker Abdul-Aziz Yakubu’s proposed move from Portuguese side Rio Ave to Egyptian giant Al-Ahly has reportedly fallen through. The collapsed move is down to a medical issue stemming from two surgeries on Yakubu’s knee that prompted Ahly to opt for a six month loan with an option to buy instead of the straightforward four and a half year deal reportedly agreed initially. Rio Ave was set to receive 2.5 million Euros from Ahly but Rio asked for 1.5 million Euros for the loan according to Africa Soccer Zone and Egyptian outlet Kingfut forcing Ahly to balk at the asking price.
