Summer Transfer: Man United Give Up On Jadon Sancho

Manchester United may have to put their pursuit of Jadon Sancho off until next year as they are unwilling to meet the asking price, according to The Mirror.

Borussia Dortmund are holding out for a £108million fee, and United bosses reportedly think that his £300,000-a-week wages would ‘shatter the club’s pay structure.’

If neither club is willing to budge, United will likely have to wait until next summer to get their man.

However, they will have to face off against a number of Europe’s elite clubs in order to get Sancho’s signature.

He has impressed since his arrival in Germany, and last season scored 20 goals and provided 20 assists in his 44 games.

The Red Devils have cut costs in recent times by offloading a number of stars to open up budget for their transfer targets, and look set to continue to do so this summer.

United believe that due to the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, the transfer market will reset, as will salaries, after many years of increasing levels of pay.

If they can’t get Sancho this summer, they may look elsewhere. United have placed a £27million bid for Juventus star Douglas Costa as an alternative.

Sancho hasn’t directly ruled out a transfer, and has remained tight-lipped on speculation, saying that he tries to ignore rumours and instead focuses on the pitch.

However, reports in Germany suggest that his Dortmund team-mates believe he will be staying for another season.
