The Ashanti regional Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Kwesi Kyei has warned the founder of Lighthouse Chapel International, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills to stop stoking tribal flames in Ghana.
Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has been caught on an audio chiding the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
According to him, the reign of the King was useless and unbeneficial to his subjects.
Following the backlash the audio has generated, the founder of Lighthouse Chapel International has personally penned a letter apologizing to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and stating that the audio was made some 20 years ago.
A portion of his statement read: I am deeply saddened that a message I shared at a conference nearly 20 years ago has been taken out of its context and circulated by persons who have previously declared that they will maliciously cause our churches in Kumasi to be closed down”.
But addressing the issue on Wontumi TV which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, Dr. Kwesi Kyei stated that as a man of God, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills is supposed to bring out messages that inspires, and not one that divides.
He extolled Otumfuo Osei Tutu II noting that “everyone knows Otumfuo has been helping the needy in Ghana.”
He further challenged Dag Heward-Mills to name and compare the works of his hometown chief to that of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
“I don’t know where he is from. Why didn’t he attack his hometown king and compare his works to Otumfuo?… Where is his father from? He should stop pushing tribes against each other”, Dr. Kwesi Kyei warned.
