Stop Bashing Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu Over Non- Akan Presidential Aspirant Comment- Joe Wise

The Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu says the NPP and non- NPP members should stop bashing the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs over his non-Akan Presidential aspirant comment.

According to him, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu did not state in the interview he granted Emefa Appau anywhere that it will be unwise for the NPP to choose another Akan as flagbearer in the 2024 general elections.

In an interview on Wontumi Radio/TV Morning Show, the 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament indicated that bloggers used that headline to catch the attention of the public.

The Member of Parliament for Bekwai Constituency aka Joe Wise advised the public to read stories into detail and not just the headlines.

Hon. Joe Wise urged the main stream media to upload the interviews they will grant with public figures on social media to avoid any brouhaha.

Background

It will be recalled that Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, in a recent interview with Joy News remarked that after having filed three Akans as presidential candidates for the New Patriotic Party, it would be unwise for the NPP to field another Akan as flag bearer for election 2024.

According to the Majority Leader, the purpose of his view is to deal with the “Akanistic” tag being propagated by the opposition NDC.
