STEM EDUCATION IS GATEWAY TO UNLOCK THE LIMITLESS POTENTIAL IN CHILDREN NOT MERELY AN ACRONYM – EDUCATION MINISTER

The Minister of Education Dr Yaw Osel Adutwum has touted STEM’s far reaching impact on the country’s education and says it remains very relevant to the socio-economic development of the country.

According to Dr. Adutwum, the government is so much committed to providing all needed resources to sustain the STEM initiative.

The Education Minister was speaking at the launch of this year’s Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Innovation (STEMNOVATION) competition in Accra under the theme, “Future-Proofing socio-economic development in Ghana through STEM”. Over 800 Senior High Schools (SHS) and Technical Vocational and Educational Training Institutions (TVET) are competing in the event.

Today’s function which was the second edition of the competition introduced by the Free SHS/TVET Secretariat last year, will offer the participating schools and their representatives, the amazing chance to utilize direct, their insight in  innovation and development to convincing public and worldwide difficulties.

Dr. Osei Adutwum said STEM education remains exceptionally, applicable to the improvement of the nation’s finances that’s why the government is focused on addressing the challenges inherent in the programme.

“As we embark on this journey, let us reflect on the profound impact that STEM education has on our society. STEM is not merely an acronym; it is a gateway to unlocking the limitless potential within our children. It equips them with the critical skills and mindset necessary to tackle the challenges of the 21st century and beyond,” he underlined

Dr Adutwum said the government is on target to accomplishing its plan of 60/40 per gross tertiary enrolment in science schooling and the vital mediations were being given with that impact.

For his part, the Facilitator of the Free SHS/TVET Secretariat, Mr William Darkwa said STEMN-NOVATION is an occasion as well as an extraordinary power that would light the flash of interest, development, and critical thinking inside the hearts and brains of Ghana’s young age. He said it is a development aimed at moving the nation forward and enable the young to become pioneers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
