NPP Needs A Marketable Presidential Candidate- Kate Gyamfua

The Ashanti Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party, have served notice to the Member of Parliament for Fomena, Hon. Andrew Amoako Asiamah, to quickly explain them why he shouldn’t be expelled from the party.

A meeting between the committee and the MP is expected to take place on Friday, October 9, 2020.

A portion of the statement copied to Wontumionline.com reads : Honourable member, you are aware of Article 97 (1) (g) of the 1992 Constitution which provides “A member of parliament shall vacate his seat in parliament if he leaves the party of which he was a member at the time of his election to parliament to join another party or seeks to remain in parliament as an independent member”.

SUBJECT: FILING OF NOMINATION AS INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE

The attention of the Ashanti Regional Executive Committee of the NPP has been drawn to a publication in respect of your (Hon. Andrew Amoako Asiamah- the MP for Fomena in Ashanti) filing as an independent candidate in the December 7, 2020 general elections whilst you remain a member of Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.

Honourable member, you are aware of Article 97 (1) (g) of the 1992 Constitution which provides “A member of parliament shall vacate his seat in parliament if he leaves the party of which he was a member at the time of his election to parliament to join another party or seeks to remain in parliament as an independent member”.

It is for this reason that the Regional Executive Committee deems it appropriate to invite you accordingly; we do invite you to meet with us tomorrow, Friday the 9th day of October, 2020 at 12noon to explain your actions to us in order for us to take appropriate steps, if necessary.
