Task force of the National Association of Small Scale Miners, on Wednesday, undertook an operation on River Mankran, in the Ahafo Ano South West District, ceasing equipments by the illegal miners.
The illegal miners, upon spotting the Task force, took to their heels and fleed the scene, leaving behind their working equipment on the river.
The Association’s Tasks Force, having no option, set the mining machines on the river Mankran, on fire, while others like water pumping machines, Motor, tanks and others were retrieved as evidence.
The Miners Association told reporters that they will continue to hunt these perpetrators working, especially, on river bodies, and ensure they rid them off from the system.
They emphasized that the Small Scale Miners Association will not stand by and allow illegal miners to destroy the environment, and their task force will patrol all mining areas, arrest and deal with the perpetrators.
