Elated Chairman Wontumi who was commenting on the massive award victory said the feat which is unprecedented in the history of the nation’s media award programmes marks a new beginning for the station which started official transmission from its Asokwa head office in Kumasi barely six months ago.
“We are not going to rest and I’m dedicating my special award as the” Most Promising Manager” to the entire sports crew”. He told King Eben on his early morning sports programme On Wontumi TV/Radio on Monday.
Chairman Wontumi paid glowing tribute to the entire work force saying, “their team spirit, hard work dedication and commitment have given us this honour and prestige,”
According to him, the awards haul marks a new beginning of the station
“We’ve placed ourselves on a path where we have to redouble our efforts to achieve more laurels.” He said.
Chairman Wontumi who appeared overwhelmed by the rapid rate at which the new station is making inroads as manifested by its viewing figures relative to Wontumi TV and other social media platforms, said, “It is incomparable to any Ghana-based media organization which is new on the media landscape.”
He said the station is making inroads into the unchartered space and so far its objective of being ahead of its competitors has been achieved in the first half year of its existence describing its achievements as “unprecedented.”
He continued, “ We hit the ground running the moment we launched ourselves in June this year with high expectations of doing things differently from what was considered to be the norm. Thankfully, through God’s grace, we have achieved our goal of being the Number One in the country.”
Chairman Wontumi also showed appreciation for the station’s numerous audiences across the world.
“They are our special partners who encouraged us with their goodwill and support.” He noted.
The NPP Regional Chairman gave a brief account of how he conceived the idea to invest a fortune in the media organization as part of his chain of businesses
According to him, it was the outcome of a conversation he had with some three key personalities associated with the Despite’s Group to establish a media empire during which they expressed doubt about his managerial competence when they learnt that he was going to run the show himself.
“Somehow their doubts challenged me to persist in meeting my goal and through hard work , perseverance and recruiting the right caliber of people the objective set has been achieved and now the sky is our limit.” He noted.
