Set Task Force For Minimum Wages- Solomon Asante to Fair Wages And Salary Commission (VIDEO)

An Aspiring Greater Accra regional Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) , Solomon Asante has petitioned Fair wages and Salary Commission to establish task force for minimum wages.

In an interview on Movement TV’s morning show, Movement In The Morning, he disclosed that “some workers in the government agencies especially the district assemblies, are paid as low as 200ghc to 250ghc per month from the Internally Generated Funds (IGF), which is below the minimum wage, and sometimes they are not paid on time, but they are the ones doing most of the job”.

Fair wages and salary commission should have a monitoring system for salaries that do not pass through the Controller and Accountant General Department. They should visit the various offices starting from the government Institutions and pay attention to  IGF staffs and ensure that the daily minimum wages are applying to everyone

According to him salaries in Ghana are not fairly paid and the minimum wage is not cutting across, people are suffering.

Ghana’s minimum wage was revived on the 1st of January, 2022 from 12.53 cedis to 13.53 cedis, meaning the average Ghanaian should be paid 419.43 monthly.
