The deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. John Kumah, has stated that abolishing road tolls would benefit the poor in society.

He stated on Wontumi TV that the decision by government to scrap road tolls is a wise one and would be implemented to ease the plight of the poor in society.

The deputy finance minister explained that most of the rich in society don’t normally use areas where toll booths are mounted and the burden was rather on the poor.

He however stated that vehicles coming into Ghana from nearby countries would continue to pay tolls to government.

Hon. John Kumah added that government would continue to pay the salaries of workers who were once stationed to collect tolls.
