An Accra High Court has granted the sacked former Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei, and his brother-in-law Francis Kweku Arhin a total of GHc10 million bail.
The two are before court over 18 charges of using public office for profit preferred against them.
The two pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
Mr. Adjei was granted a bail of Ghc5 million with two sureties to be justified. His sureties are to deposit a national identification card with the court’s registry while the accused himself is to deposit his passport until the final determination of the case.
Mr. Arhin on the other hand has also been granted a bail of GHc5 million with two sureties to be justified. His sureties are to deposit a national identification card with the court’s registry.
Adjenim Boateng Adjei, has been charged by the Office of the Special Prosecutor with seventeen charges of using public office for his personal gains.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, on October 30, 2020, sacked Mr. Adjei over allegations of conflict of interest in the ‘Contract for Sale’ scandal. He had been suspended the previous year following the release of the investigative piece.
The President after suspending him then reported the former PPA boss to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the conflict of interest allegation and followed it up with a complaint to the Office of the Special Prosecutor to investigate the aspects of the scandal bordering on criminality.
