A respected Chief in Ghana has backed Vice President Dr. Bawumia’s call to ban the use of Okada on our road.
Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II, in an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show boldly stated that “we won’t legal Okada because it is dangerous.”
He explained that Vice President Bawumia had already held discussions to manufacture fuel efficient cars to for people to move away from using okada as mode of transport.
According to him riding okada for commercial purpose is destroying innocent lives and putting people risk.
“Go to the emergency centers in all the various hospitals; when you return I am sure you have a story to tell. You would know if it was prudent for a former President to tell us that he would legalize okada”, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II said.
He therefore called for the citizens to support the government of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia and recognize that their decision to ban the use of okada is for the greater good of the citizen.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced that the Akufo-Addo government will not legalize ‘Okada’ business.
According to him, though it’s a tough decision to make, the government has had to take this stance in the supreme interest of Ghanaians.
The Flagbearer of the main opposition NDC, John Mahama says his government will legalize the commercial operation of motorbikes popularly known as Okada when voted into power in 2021.
According to him, the Okada business has become a means of sustenance for young people who are unemployed.
But Speaking at the joint launch of a strategic collaboration of Volkswagon & Blackivy to launch Volkswagon’s new assembled cars in Ghana, Vice President Dr. Bawumia stated that the NPP government will stick to its decision to provide a better alternative for the Okada riders.
