Rehabilitation Of Major Roads In Ayensuano To Be completed On Time – DCE Assures Residents

The District Chief Executive of Ayensuano in the Eastern Region, Hon Florence Govina, has promised the people of the district who have endured bad roads for years that the ongoing rehabilitation of the two major road network will soon be completed for them to have the benefit of travelling in comfort.

Hon Govina who was speaking exclusively to wontumionline.com said the two major projects are the 36 kilometer stretch starting from Nsawam Adoagyiri through Coaltar, Dokrokyewa, Kwaboanta and Kofi Pare.

“ Fifty-five percent of that key trunk road is completed. “ She said in an interview with wontumionline.com.

The other road project is the Asuboi Junction to Ben Kuakrobo stretch and measures 7.5 kilometre is also progressing steadily with only 30% of contractual works yet to be done.
She said the contractors working on the two major projects are making every effort to complete them on time.

According to Hon Govina, on completion of the two major projects the District will be positioned as one of the best with lesser headaches when it comes to road infrastructure.

She said all the eight major market centers are dependent on the two important trunk roads and on completion “they will make trading activities in the District more vibrant.”

On the provision of water, the Hon DCE said the peculiar nature of Coaltar the district capital, which sits on bedrocks beneath the surface of the ground make the penetration of the water table impossible.

She however, noted because the challenge has made it extremely difficult to provide the residents in other areas with potable water an NGO, Community Water, has come to the aid of residents by initiating a project that will ensure regular supply of water to deprived communities.

“The Community Water system is such that after sinking the bore holes, a network of distribution to various households is established to make water readily available to residents who are connected to the system.”

She said on completion of the Community Water project “poor water supply to the people will longer pose a challenge.”

Mad. Govina hailed the government’s One District, One Factory initiative saying three prominent industries have been established in the District. They are a tomato paste factory at Kyekyewere, Tissue Paper factory at Asuboi and a Diesel manufacturing company at Teacher Mante.

“In addition, quarrying is a big business in the District. There’re two major quarrying companies which operate there and all these industries generate a lot of revenue for the Assembly. Together they have also reduced the unemployment burden.” She noted.

She said the for instance, the tomato paste factory at Kyekyewere which produces the Sunshine brand has since its inception provided jobs for about 500 youths.

The District can boast of several completed educational infrastructural projects but according to Madam Govina, the performance of one particular contractor at Atimatim raises a lot of concern.

According to her he left site without completing the project.
