Refrain From 2020/21 CAF Competitions- Takyi Arhin To Kotoko And Ash Gold
Ghanaian football administrator, Takyi Arhin, has given a piece of advice to Kumasi Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC to refrain from this season’s CAF Inter-club competitions and focus on developing infrastructures.
Following the truncating of the 2019-20 Ghana Premier League due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Ghana Football Association has handed the Porcupine Warriors and the Miners the ticket to represent Ghana in the elite continental inter-club competition.
In ordinary times, the winners of the GPL and FA cup earn the sole right to represent the nation on the continent.
The new Kotoko management led by Nana Yaw Amponsah and the Dr Kwame Kyei led-Board are yet to decide on possible participation in the Caf Champion league next season.
But Takyi Arhin popularly known as “Thunder” in football circles believes Kotoko who recently celebrated their 85th anniversary should focus on infrastructural development this time and prepare well in subsequent seasons.
“Looking at our current situation I will humbly advice Asante Kotoko & AshantiGold SC not to participate in the 2020-2021 CAF Inter Club competitions.” Takyi Arhin told Alpha Radio
“I want Asante Kotoko to focus more on the Adako Jachie project and the upgrade of it’s Secretariat than playing in the Africa.
“If the stakeholders of the club will decide to partake in Africa who am I to ask them to stop but my only advice to them is to avoid it for now and prepare well in the subsequent season.
Asante Kotoko suffered elimination in last season’s CAF champions league to Etoile du Sahel after they were demoted to the Confederation and were kicked out by San Pedro.
