‘Rasta’ Is A Culture, It Does Not Prevent Students To Study – KSTU Lecturer

Dr Samuel Afriyie, lecturer of Kumasi Senior Technical University (KSTU) says, ‘rasta’ is just a hair style which does not prevent a student from studying.

According to him the Achimota school and the rastafarian brouhaha should not have been dragged to court.

Participating on Wontumi Radio and TV Morning Show, he said that the heads of Achimota should have been humbled over the issue.

According to Dr. Afriyie if the authorities of the school were humbled enough, this issue would not have come to the public domain.

He suggested that the Minister of Education, Hon. Osei-Yaw Adutwum should introduce some kind of regulations that accept the culture of the people in the education system.

He said, if the rules are introduced, it would help Ghanaians and foreigners with different cultural backgrounds to study in the country.

He affirmed that accepting the cultural of other people does not mean students can wear any dress and make any kind of hair style to school.
