Rally The Youth For YouStart Programme – John Kumah Tells Gov’t Institutions
A Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah has urged all government institutions to rally the youth in all parts of the country for the YouStart programme.
He said there was the need to invest in the youth of the country hence, the introduction of this programme.
The lawmaker for Ejisu said these while engaging some government institutions and officials in Tamale as part of a nationwide stakeholder engagement on the programme.
“Out of our total population of 31 million about 11 million are young people between the ages of 15-35 years and so, we must invest in them more than we have done over the years,”
“Through the E-Levy, the government can mobilise some GHC 1 billion and can invest in the job creation potential of the youth this year plus other commitment from our development partners and some selected banks. So, every government institution has an obligation to rally the youth in every part of the country for the YouStart programme,” he said.
The Finance Minister Mr Ken Ofori-Atta said earlier that the government was committed to creating one million jobs for the youth of this country through the YouStart initiative.
He said the Youstart programme as stated in the 2022 Annual Budget Statement was expected to create the one million jobs using seed capital of GHC 1 billion..
He added that beneficiaries would be equipped with training to equip them with skills development, entrepreneurial support, and business advisory service provision.
