Public Interest Advocates Challenge NPP, NDC And Other Political Parties To Declare Stance On The Anti LGBTQI+ Bill Before Parliament

Public Interest Advocates are challenging political parties especially NPP and NDC to come out boldly to declare their stance on this all important issue of public interest.

According to the recent CDD survey, it appeared only 7percent of Ghanaian’s tolerate this LGBTQ+. So it is surprising that some eminent personalities who are linked to NPP and NDC are part of a coliation who are against this bill before Parliament.

In view of the above, the Ghanaian public are interested in knowing the official stance of both NPP and NDC to clear any doubt for the smooth passage of the Anti LGBTQI+ Bill before Parliament.

We need to hear from major institutions like the political parties on this matter especially the NPP and NDC and the Chiefs and Traditional Councils in Ghana.

We have heard from the Pentecost Church of Ghana who form 10% of the population and have submitted 15,000 signatures in support of the Bill.

We know over 100 memos have been submitted to Parliament. We have heard from the Muslim group and also heard from other individuals make their arguments against the Bill like Lawyer Akoto Ampaw, Raymond Atuguba and others.

Finally, it is important to note that the Ghanaian public need their stance to inform them ahead of any future decisions most especially 2024 polls.

If it is bound to happen or not to happen, it should be done in an open manner and not a hypocritical manner.

Thanks
