Executive Director of IRBARD SECURITY CONSULT, Irbard Ibrahim, has observed that prisons in Ghana are rather churning out more criminals rather positively transforming them.
In his view, prisons have become an academy for graduating criminals in the Ghanaian society.
In an interview with Oheneba Asiedu on Wontumi TV which was monitored by Wontumionine.com, Irbard Ibrahim called for immediate reforms noting that “we should be limiting custodian sentences. Petty thieves should not be sent to prison yards because they go there and interact with hardened criminals”.
He likened the above interactions to a lecturer and student relationship and added that it was a way for petty criminals to acquire news skills when it comes to crime.
