After perusing through several surveys, Dr. George Domfeh, is forecasting a possible runoff about the 2024 Presidential election.
“If things would go this way, in election even a day before the main event, things can drastically change. But we are foreseeing a second round”, he announced.
Dr. Domfeh, a Development Economist and a Research Fellow at the University of Ghana, strongly posited that if nothing drastically changes, “there will be a second round in the election- the survey shows”.
Speaking as a guest on the Bɛkyerɛ Mu show, Dr. Domfeh stated that the 2024 Presidential Election is the most difficult one to “predict” even after studying and learning from previous elections.
“At one instance, John Mahama was the obvious choice to be President. However, things started changing from November last year. Mahama was on 53% and Bawumia was nowhere to be found. He dropped to 44% and Bawumia started increasing”, he said about factors making the impending election a difficult one to predict.
He further stated that as at October, the two leading candidates- John Dramani Mahama and Dr. Bawumia, are neck on neck.
“Just three days ago in October, I saw two surveys, Mahama was leading one with a smaller margin and Bawumia was also leading the other with a smaller margin”.
He however stated that when it comes to the Parliamentary election, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to command a clear majority seat.
