Talks about building an atmosphere of political neutrality at the National Identification Authority (NIA) by Prof Ken Attafuah, has been quashed and shut down by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.
The Assin Central legislator believes the pronouncement by Prof. Ken Attafuah doesn’t bode well for the New Patriotic Party taking into account what the previous government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does when they clinch political power.
The Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA) Prof. Ken Attafuah stirred controversy when he revealed that President Akufo-Addo has charged him not to hire or involve members of the NPP in any process at the National Identification Authority (NIA).
Prof Attafuah is on record to have said on another radio station that President Akufo-Addo’s vision is for him to build a neutral public service and so he [Attafuah] was doing what the law permits and in line with the President’s legacy.
But addressing the issue of not hiring any member of the NPP at the NIA by Prof Ken Attafuah, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong stated that he (Attafuah) was once fired for political reasons by the late former President John Atta Mills because he is a member of the NPP.
The Assin Central lawmaker went out to state that even Ghanaians who had been recruited into the Ghana Army when former President Kufour was in office, were all sacked when an NDC took over power.
He therefore wondered what informed Prof. Ken Attafuah to ditch his own party members as Executive Secretary of the NIA when it is this same people who have maintained the party in power for him to get appointed.
