Police Begin Investigations Into The Killing Of NPP MP; Offers GHC20k Bounty
The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into the killing of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman West, Ekow Quansah Hayford.
Central Regional Commander, DCOP Habiba Twumasi Sarpong has on the instructions of the Inspector-General of Police James Oppong-Boanuh visited the scene with his team and all necessary security issues taken.
“The IGP has sent specialized investigators from CID Headquarters to support the Central region’s Crime Scene Team to solve the alleged robbery incident and murder of Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Hon. Ekow Quansah.
A reward of twenty thousand Ghana Cedis (20,000.00) has also been offered to any person who gives credible information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators, while the public is being urged to remain calm”, a statement from the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service has said.
Presently, the scene has been barricaded for crime scene experts to thoroughly examine.
Ekow Quansah Hayford together with his driver, Issah, were shot this early morning by some armed robbers who had blocked the road linking Abeadze Dominase and were robbing commuters of their belongings
The robbers number about six had shot and deflated the vehicles.
The police patrol team immediately rushed to the scene midway between Abandze and Mankessim and met several passengers stranded with about 18 vehicles parked.
The MP was however rushed to the Saltpond Government Hospital but was dead on arrival. His body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
