A reckless Nissan saloon car driver in his early 30s on Friday morning clashed into a vehicle conveying a group of journalists covering an inspection tour of the Ashanti Regional Minster, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah on the Kumasi-Obuasi road.

One of the journalists, Ohene Brenya of UTV, who was in a critical condition was rushed to a nearby hospital while the rest suffered minor injuries.

The vehicle transporting the journalists , a Nissan Urvan mini bus, was seriously damaged in the process.

The incident occurred at Pakyi No.2 stretch of one of the busiest road in Ashanti when the journalists were returning from an inspection tour of on-going road projects which are key to the development of the Region.

Recounting what exactly happened, Wontumi Communication’s Nana Owusu Achiaw who was among the group of seven journalists travelling with the Hon Regional Minister when the incident happened explained that, the media personnel were heading towards Kumasi for the next round of the tour when the unfortunate incident happened.

 

According to Nana Owusu Achiaw who suffered a sprain in the leg during the clash, the driver of the Nissan saloon car with registration number, GN-6280-15 has to be blamed for the accident because ,” his carelessness brought about the collision”

He said, some of the journalists who complained of sprains are currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital.

Also involved in the accident were personnel from Ashh FM, UTV multimedia, and Graphic online.
