A renowned school in Kumasi, the Shepherd School situated at Kuwait has been flooded following the recent heavy downpour in Kumasi.

According to the Director of the school, Mr. Akwasi Oppong, items worth Ghc10,000 have been destroyed.

He revealed to Wontumi Communication’s Nana Owusu Achiaw that, the bus used for conveying the students’ school materials were all drowned.

According to him, due to the construction of the Atonsu road, the water way has been diverted thereby causing serious flood in the school anytime it rains.

He said that, the bridge linking Atonsu through Kuwait is scanty so when it rains, the river overflows the banks and it penetrates the school.

Mr. Oppong made a passionate appeal to government for support.

“We are calling on government to come to our aid. He should desilt the gutters to allow free flow of the water if not our school would continue to be flooded,” he wept.

Some teachers in the school also shared their depression.

“We are very sad about the situation. All our books and everything have been misplaced. We don’t know how we are going to teach so we are pleading with the government to support us.”
