PICTURES: NPP Has Completed 1,180km Of Roads In Ashanti Region Since 2017- Dr Bawumia

The Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has commissioned the 100km Kumasi inner roads and adjacent streets project.

The benefited Constituencies are Suame, New Tafo, Manhyia, Bantama, Kwadaso, Subin, Oforikrom, Nhyiaeso and Asokwa.

Speaking at the event, Dr Bawumia said the commissioning of the projects is a clear indication that the government is working massively.

He said many roads have been completed.

According to the Vice President, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Feeder roads and Urban roads have completed 1,180km of roads in the Region since 2017.

He said in addition to the 100km inner ring roads, 75km of town roads have been done by the Urban roads department.

Dr Bawumia said the Kumasi roads and drainage project is 90% complete.

“Rehabilitation and upgrading of 264km of roads have been done by the Highway Authority since 2017,” he said.

The Vice President said, “work is going on. It’s not over. There is more to do.”

For his part, the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Amoako Atta advised the beneficiaries to protect the project.

He said a lot of money has been pumped into it.

He indicated that most of the road infrastructures which were in poor condition and were not motorable have been given a facelift.

Amoako Atta stressed that the NPP government is a promise keeper adding that when it cuts sod, it delivers.

The Regional Minister Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah expressed profound gratitude to Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia for the support given to the Region.

He said the government has done a lot for Asanteman and that the residents should exercise constraints.

Osei Mensah expressed the hope that Asanteman will boast of massive road infrastructure by end of 2024.

However, he said the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war have ravaged Ghana’s economy.

Simon Osei-Mensah quickly said Akufo-Addo and his competent team will take Ghana out of the economic drawbacks.
