(PICTURES) ATTA Ghana Visits Tourist Sites In Ashanti Region
African Travel & Tourism Association- Ghana (ATTA) has visited some tourist sites in the Ashanti Region.
Some of the tourist attractions they visited were Kumasi Zoo, Prempeh II Museum, Okomfo Anokye Sword site, and the Military Museum.
Speaking with Wontumionline’s Nana Owusu Achiaw after the visitation, the President of the Association, Emmanuel Boateng, said ATTA Ghana is an association that seeks to promote the tourism in various Regions.
He said, Ashanti Region is touted as the Region with most tourist attractions yet the inhabitants don’t cherish them, “so we have taken it upon ourselves to promote Ashanti tourism.”
Boateng said, it is about time Ashantis developed interest for their own tourist sites like how the Voltarians, Northerners and the other tribes do.
“Businessmen don’t understand tourism so they invest in other business and leave the tourism. We have to make the tourist attractions attractive for the businessmen to invest in tourism,” he said.
The President of ATTA Ghana noted that individuals and organizations can count on them for a very nice traveling packages.
Adding his voice, Founding Member and Chairman of the Association , Ahmed Naaman told Nana Owusu Achiaw that, Ashanti Region needs to revive its cycle of tourism.
He averred that nobody can tell the story of the tourist sites than the indegines of the Region.
“Strangers come to Kumasi on weekends for programmes but don’t know any tourist sites to visit perhaps they haven’t heard of them,”Naaman said
The Chairman of the ATTA Ghana revealed that, the challenge of the Association is source of funds to support it’s agenda.
He bemoaned that, a section of the members engage in little business and that their income is not enough to extend their support to the Association.
