The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has slammed the Minority over threats to picket at the Bank of Ghana (BoG) after issuing a 21-day ultimatum to the Governor and his deputies to resign.
The NPP Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi tells Wontumionline.com that instead of calling on the Governor and his deputies to resign, the minority should channel the energy into rather getting former President John Dramani Mahama and his wife arrested.
The Minority has accused the Governor of the BoG, Dr. Ernest Addison and his deputies of financial malfeasance and request their immediate resignation.
But Chairman Wontumi responded that the person responsible for financial malfeasance in Ghana is the leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and not Dr. Ernest Addison.
“We should prosecute John Mahama and his wife before we turn our attention to Ernest Addison. Because it is their fault we faced an economic crunch as a nation:, Chairman Wontumi said.
He cited Saglemi housing project as one “useless” project that was used by Mr. Mahama to create an avenue to milk the nation dry.
“Mahama spent money meant for Saglemi on his family and went ahead to publish a Green Book where there was no development in it. In the same book he cited a lot of roads that we couldn’t locate with our naked eyes. At the same time he caused our banks to crunch and that was the genesis of our financial downfall”, Chairman Wontumi explained.
In an address to the media during a “Moment of Truth” series, Ato Forson stated; “We in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) saw the red flags and have consistently warned of the mismanagement of the financial sector by the Governor of the Central Bank and his team of incompetent deputies.”
Chairman Wontumi rubbished the statements by the NDC legislator stating that never in the history of Ghana have we had someone manage BoG and restore it to glory like Dr. Addison and his deputies have done.
“John Mahama invested in guinea fowls that flew to Burkina Faso…so if we have a problem, we have to hold him accountable, take him to court and fire him and not Addison. Addison has done well and Ghanaians have to praise him. In our generation this is the first of its kind that we have someone managing BoG who has brought financial discipline”, he said.
